Product description
A Chain-Mouth Futurity Gag for the Stronger Horse
The Professional's Choice Futurity Chain Bit pairs a soft sweet-iron chain mouthpiece with a 6½" futurity gag shank — built for the stronger horse that still needs the give of a gag cheek. The longer shank and gag action add poll pressure that encourages flexion and gives you more control in speed events.
The chain mouthpiece lies softly across the tongue and bars without pinching, offering good lift and lateral flexibility. The sweet-iron finish is meant to oxidize over time, creating a sweet taste that promotes salivation and a relaxed, willing mouth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a chain mouthpiece like for the horse?
The chain links lie across the tongue and bars and flex with the horse, so it's softer than a solid mouthpiece and avoids the "nutcracker" pinch of a single-joint bit, while still giving clear lift and lateral feel.
Q: How is this different from the 3-piece twisted version?
Professional's Choice offers the Futurity shank with several mouthpieces. This is the chain mouthpiece with a 5¾" mouth. The 3-piece twisted is a separate, sharper option — choose that model instead if you want it.
Q: Is this bit for a horse coming out of a snaffle?
It's a gag/leverage bit for a horse that already understands rein and leg and is ready for shank action. The gag cheek keeps some snaffle-like give, but introduce it gradually and use a properly adjusted curb strap.
